Crew Member

The Crewmembers of Bay State Cruises’ Encore Water Shuttles are to deliver excellent guest service while assisting the Captain with operating in a safe, professional manner. With a strong focus on proactive and friendly interaction with guests, the successful Crewmember needs to possess strong people skills and basic seamanship skills. All necessary seamanship training will be provided.



  • Report for all scheduled shifts on time and ready to work
  • Maintain clean uniform (BSCC provided)
  • Assist with start-up and shut-down procedures
  • Stock vessel with any necessary stores and supplies
  • Maintain vessel cleanliness and aesthetic standards throughout the duration of the shift
  • Handle all dock lines and secure bridge way where needed
  • Greet all guests with a friendly, engaging demeanor
  • Assist guests with safe boarding and disembarking as well as with personal packages & luggage
  • Collect passenger fares and maintain an accurate passenger count at all times
  • Communicate all incidents and operational issues directly to the Captain on duty


  • U.S citizen per Jones Act
  • Basic understanding of various mooring and dock lines and their uses (training provided)
  • Basic fendering and dock safety
  • Familiar with all safety/emergency procedures and location of required vessel documents and publications
  • Participate in emergency drills including Man Over board, Fire and Abandon Ship
  • Negative result pre-employment DOT drug screen and subject to required random screening
  • Sound health, vision, and hearing
  • Able to work/stand for long periods of time without a break
  • Safely lift 50 pounds
